Effects of Energy Drinks – FDA Warning

Monster energy drink

Reports released by the Food and Drug Administration in the US suggest that  those who consume energy drinks like Red Bull and Rockstar Energy drinks could be consuming unsafe levels of caffeine. In the past four years, the agency has received 90 reports including 13 deaths with 5-Hour Energy drinks being a possible cause. A further five deaths have been attributed to Monster Energy drinks over the past 3 years.

The reports to the agency are not scientific proof that energy drinks caused the deaths. But the FDA has documented multiple links between energy drinks and the deaths.

However, as per a new study that was published in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, that reveals some complex forerunners of emotional eating and at the same time explores its consequences that include: higher level of BMI, greater inclination towards emotional insecurity, obesity, guilt and shame. These can affect  the emotional eaters as well as their families.The researchers of this study interviewed a total of eight women in the 30 to 57 year old age group. All women described themselves as an emotional eater with BMI of around 30 and even more than that. Their responses were then clustered in around 10 overarching topics that offered deeper understanding for the reason of emotional eating as a trap.
