Fitness Inspiration – Not Always Pro Athletes

Rannfeldt - fitness inspirationWhen you think of a fitness inspiration, who do you think of? A professional bodybuilder or fitness competitor? An overweight person who got into really good shape? Dealing with Frustration in Youth Athletes

dealing with frustrationDealing with frustration is a normal part of being an athlete but can be difficult on coaches and parents.  Coaching my son’s Little League Junior Rookie team is a prime example of what can happen.

What is happening in a child’s mind when they make a mistake? You will notice I did not say “lose” because the ultimate result is to teach them the skills needed to compete in the sport. If the league is managed properly, winners are not even determined. Our league does but very few of my athletes ever ask who won because I avoid the topic. Winning and losing adds to their already difficult task of dealing with frustration at an age when it really does not matter. Making a mistake in a game and knowing how to deal with it is the key piece of dealing with frustration as an athlete.
